    Should do this

Looks like they are gearing up to do this with the new friend list facility.

    Should do this 3 cheers

With more and more people joining facebook, people need a way to seperate what family, close friends, acquaintances and professional contacts can see.

    Should not do this

The problem with this is: Facebook is about simplicity. People you don’t know well see a limited profile, which is meant to censor out the stuff you don’t want employers seeing. Friends see everything. Anything more intimate is usually communicated via messaging rather than in a public forum for anybody to see.

    Should do this 2 cheers

Facebook.com should allow me to set a privacy setting based on the relationship. i.e
Class 1 – VERY good friends – Best Friends / Girl or boy Friend sees all 1/2/3/4/5
Class 2 – Friends – People who are todays acquaintances. sees 2/3/4/5
Class 3 – Other Friends – People I have known in the past, but rarely see anymore! sees 3/4/5
Class 4 – Colleagues – Work colleagues I don’t want them seeing stupid things I got up to at the weekend! Sees 4/5
Class 5 – Others – My Public Profile basically.. sees 5

Apps should also do this too!

A Limited Profile is just not good enough..
